Frequently asked questions

Everything about bike leasing

The most important questions – briefly answered. We're happy to look at your specific case in person.

Who is allowed to ride the leased bike – partners or children too?
In principle anyone may ride it. Insurance cover applies to you and the family living in your household – so your spouse and children may ride it too.
Can I lease several bikes (e.g. one for my partner)?
Usually yes – often up to two company bikes per person. Your employer decides. A second bike can then be used by your partner, for example (the contract runs through you as the employee).
Can children, or children's bikes, be leased?
Kids don't have an employer, so they can't take out their own lease. But you can easily include the whole family via a second company bike or a child seat added to the lease.
Which bikes are eligible for leasing?
Almost all of them: MTB, Gravel, road bikes, trekking, cargo bikes and E-Bikes – carbon too. Not possible are S-Pedelecs (up to 45 km/h), as they are subject to different insurance conditions.
Can I lease accessories along with the bike?
Yes – anything firmly attached to the bike: mudguards, racks, kickstands, lights and even a child seat.
Am I allowed to use the bike privately?
Yes, without limit – in everyday life, in your free time and at the weekend.
How much do I save?
The instalment is deducted from your gross salary via salary sacrifice, and the non-cash benefit is taxed at just 0.25 %. Depending on your tax rate, you're often around 30–40 % cheaper than buying outright.
How long does the contract run – and what happens at the end?
Usually 36 months. After that you can take over your bike cheaply at its residual value.
What happens if I change jobs or my contract ends?
You can take over the bike at its residual value and keep riding it privately – or hand it back; the insurance then covers the remaining instalments. The details depend on the provider.
What if the bike is stolen or breaks down?
Insurance is usually included (theft, wear and tear, sometimes fully comprehensive). The scope varies by provider – see our comparison above.
